Clue Club – Teen Detectives, Talking Dogs, and Saturday Morning Mysteries

A groovy mix of teen sleuths, talking dogs, and clever clues that kept ’70s Saturday mornings wonderfully mysterious.

Before Scooby-Doo ruled mystery cartoons, Clue Club brought its own brand of sleuthing fun to Saturday mornings. Produced by Hanna-Barbera and debuting in 1976, the series followed four young detectives — Larry, Pepper, D.D., and Dottie — along with their two lovable canine partners, Woofer and Wimper, as they cracked baffling small-town crimes.

Like other Hanna-Barbera hits of the era, Clue Club mixed humor, teamwork, and suspense, but added a clever twist: Dottie, the youngest member, served as the team’s high-tech investigator, relaying evidence via her computer long before kids had them at home.

Each episode played like a mini whodunit, packed with clues, red herrings, and plenty of cartoon charm. Though short-lived, Clue Club earned a loyal cult following — remembered today as a hidden gem in the golden age of Saturday morning mysteries.
